Swamp hexes for simulating Afsluitdijk in Holland?

Post by gerones »

Afsluitdijk in Holland was fully completed by 1933 and it appeared to be one of the more ambitious german objectives in the northern sector of Case Yelow so in case of the Wehrmacht would have seized this dyke they would have been able to enter in Holland from the north. See this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_the_Afsluitdijk

Right now german units can cross from northern Holland to attack Hague as if there was possible to move an entire corps unit across the dyke! This dyke was strongly fortified and was successfully defended by the dutch army as you can see in the wikipedia article above. So I think that for better simulating this really strategic dyke we could make the hexes north of Hague and east of Groningen as swamp hexes as it is showed in the image below. I don´t mean to make them again sea hexes as in vanilla game but to make them swamp hexes to simulate the stronger difficulty to cross this dyke.

Since it is a minor map change it could be included in the next release candidate.
