Dead to a man without moving.

Post by Caliph »

Hopefully my tale of stupidity will amuse you.

I deployed a small unit of Viking Huscarles as a flank guard in ambush in a forest. We were using 40mm MU's so I thought I could get out in time. Unfortunately, my opponents MF ran forward like Linford Christie so I was stuck there. I tried to charge some slingers, hoping for the extra VMD to get at least the front rank out. They evaded, I rolled a 1 - so didn't move. The huscarles were then charged by some MF impact foot. Unsurprisingly they disrupted, but managed to hold on for a couple of combats before losing a base & eventually fragmenting. They were then charged in the flank and broke. The dice roll for the rout was 1 so they didn't move, just lost 2 bases. In the JAP I again rolled down so they still did not move, lost 2 bases then evaporated.

Their dedication, steadfastness and courage is unequalled, only the competence of their commander needs to be questioned!

So did the hold up on the flank long enough?

Will your Huscarls every venture into the dark evil woods again?

You've sold us a lie.

They DID move. The, at least, had to turn around when routing :)
