If you had only one wish to improve Panzercorps...
If you had only one wish for Panzercorps improvement, what would it be?
Mine would be an advanced AI mode where AI spends much more time in thinking and hence reacts more flexible and challenging, more manoeuvering with less overwhelming odds. I'd be happy to wait 5mins or so for the AI to sort out its opportunities and optimize.
That would be on top of my wishlist.
How about you?

I'd vote for some alterations to the way infantry combat is handled.
Every troop has the same close defense rating and experience doesn't do much so it seems a bit like the clone wars. I also think the 43 wehrmacht and guards are a bit too lethal against tanks in close quarters since the last patch.

I agree that its a good thing that troops are stronger against armour in close terrain than they were in the previous patch but its about balance. Even standard 43 wehrmacht infantry will always destroy at least half a tank division if attacked and will often take out 6 or 7 without loosing any strength. Send in 30 tanks against a Grenadier or Guard on even the lowest entrenchments and you may end up with about 10 left over... total carnage, everytime. Granted its not a very wise strategy and infantry should be dangerous and tough to dig out but early shreck and faust weapons had many limitations and were not quite so devastating. It took some brave and experienced troops to use them effectively.Heavy infantry being lethal in close quarters against Armour can only be good.
Any way i don't wan't to go off topic. I just think theres lots of work to be done for infantry combat in general with the way Panzer Corps stands at the moment.

I would also like better AI. The AI is really bad at coordinating attacks. I would also like another difficulty level that gives the computer more prestige and more units. I really don't like any of the three additional AI levels as they are right now. Rommel is probably the most intereting with Guderian just ending up being annoying and Manstein just isn't my thing. I have always hated how designers make a game harder by increasing the strenght of enemy units.
A better AI aswell. Not that the current one is bad at all (it's considerably better than in PG).
But as mentioned above, coordinated attacks could be better.
And one day I'm gonna sit down to really write up all my wishes for the game, mostly UI enhancements and a few game mechanics changes.

If I could wish for *any* improvement it would be change the combat resolution from a casualty heavy model to a more realistic permanent supression model along the lines of Fantasy General - instead of losses units suffer disruption like effects that require doing nothing for a turn to stop and reorganise. Actual losses would drop significantly as would the likelyhood of losing units to a single round of combat (ie before you have a chance to intervene). Scenario balance would be easier to achieve as much less prestige would be required for repairs, allowing for more predictable allocations to core upgrades.
If I was wishing for an improvement I might actually convince the devs to implement it would be the ability to reform lost core units with 0 experience, 0 leaders, 10 strength, but medals and history intact.

I'm not sure if this is the most important improvement to me, but it is the first one I thought of.
Trains.
Excellent idea. I love it. But it just doesn't seem as useful as I thought it would be. Something is missing. All of my core units have much better transport by the 2nd or 3rd scenario.
I don't know what the fix would be though. More aux units to transport to the front. Perhaps being able to load/travel/unload faster. Perhaps allowing units to only load in cities, but allow them to disembark at any point along the rail line. Someone much smarter than me would have to figure that one out.

Having an unit that ends a turn in a train on a city start the next turn disembarked would be great.Vaughn wrote:I don't know what the fix would be though. More aux units to transport to the front.
