Artillery Bug?

Post by KageToraUK »

I bought a new laptop a short while back, and have installed PC on it. As I have been busy recently, I have only had time to play two games on it (the Poland scenario, and one of my own custom scenarios), and both times I have experienced the exact same problem.

Half way into a game, I will try to fire artillery at an enemy, and it doesn't fire. Then I can't do anything. I can't select units, or get any other button to work. It's almost as if the game has frozen, but it hasn't, because in the little weather circles the animation is still running, and the music is still going.

I am not sure what to do about this.

Specs:

Win7 64-bit
4GB RAM
Intel i5 processor
NVidia G105M graphics (512MB)

Any suggestions?

Kage, could you please post your DxDiag?
I bet it's your Windows MCI which is broken.

Probably it's K-kite.
Do you have it installed? Which version (see in Control Panel in Program and Features)?

Do you mean K-Lite? In that case, I have version 7.9.0......

It should be working with 7.9.0. :?

You can try two different things and see if one works:
Unistall k-lite and check if it's working.
Convert the wav files from Audio subfolders to mp3(and remove the wav) and check.

Converted to mp3.

Cheers, as I actually need the K-Lite pack for my video-making, I decided to try your second suggestion - of exchanging the .wav files with .mp3 files, and that seems to have worked. I just tried it out on a map with all of the German artillery pieces and it seems to have been fixed. Thanks a lot, and thanks a lot for giving me all the .mp3 files, too - it would have put me off if I'd had to convert them all myself

Cheers, again!

Ok.
But this is a workaround. You still have the issue with the wav files at least.
There are other things you could try, but they need a little more tech approach.
Anyway don't forget to remove the wav files with every update.
