Is the DLC worth getting?

Is the DLC worth getting?
Hi,
I just downloaded the demo and expect that I will be buying Panzer Corps during the sale.
For those of you that already have it and the DLC, does the DLC add a lot to the game experience?
Doesn't the basic game cover the entire war?
Does the DLC just add more varied campaigns?
Is there a benefit to getting the DLC before actually playing through the campaign that comes with the base game?
Thanks for any help.

Re: Is the DLC worth getting?
If you are completely new to the game, it is recommended to start with the tutorials firstrobc wrote:Hi,

The basic game covers the whole war, like the old PG did
Every DLC is a part of a huge campaign and every DLC is connected to each other but can also be played seperately
There is a very nice modding community, providing additional scenario's and campaigns for everybody to play

And above all. Welcome to the board!!!!
Yes welcome!
I was going to link the same thread as nikivdd, but he beat me to it. That thread is pretty telling of the quality and value of the DLCs.

I would say if you enjoy the game, but feel the main campaign was too short(A very common notion, which is why we produced and are still producing more DLC), the DLC campaigns will be perfect for you.kjeld111 wrote:"The vanilla campaign was an outstanding remake of an outstanding game. But the DLC really push the boundaries of the game : combining the branching campaign structure, "storytelling" aspects (with briefings that are directly relevant to the actual tactical map), innovative map design, diverse objectives, scripted/dynamic events, and elements of foreshadowing from one map to another (eg. scouting Piatek, Modlin or Warsaw during the previous scenarios), you manage to achieve a degree of IMMERSION that I didn't imagine was possible with the relatively "light" PG game mechanics."
Hope everyone will enjoy this as much as I did.
A completely new player will probably get stomped in Poland, gutted in France and the 1941 DLC is still in development.
The scenario are way better, more varied and interesting than the default Panzer Corps/General campaign.
Yeah, I definitely recommend both the 1939 and 1940 DLC. Especially the 1940 DLC rocks IMO.

I have already been quoted :p , but yes, the DLC add quite a bit of value to the game.
The vanilla campaign contains 26 scenarios, and is a branching, dynamic campaign where your performance in each map (and the occasional choice during a briefing) will lead you to a different string of scenarios. So, each individual playthrough will be something like 10-12 scenarios (depending on what happens) - with a great deal of replayability.
Each DLC is typically around 14-15 scenarios (exact quantity may vary), with a typical playthrough of 10 scenarios + 1 optional harder/"what if" scenario, and 3-4 alternate/branching scenarios, ie. almost as long as one playthrough of the base campaign - with less variability and sticking closer to history.
So yes, it's quite a bit of content for the price, and those scenarios benefit, as it as already been said, from superior map designing and AI scripting.

WARNING: buy this game and the DLCs only if you like to:
1.think
2.plan
3.execute
.................a grand strategy and then enjoy the twists and turns the AI provides that gets you the point of "......damn,how the hell did I pull that off" or ".....maybe if I try this........"
Its that kind of game
