Allied campaign

Post by Tordenskjold »

I am convinced that this question has been asked but since I haven't found the topic I ask myself. Are there going to be made a campaign for the western Allies? I would think a natural starting point will be El Alamein. Is there such planes?

Africa will probably be put in as another German campaign, but you can select allies of course.

You will probably see the fully developed allied campaigns in Allied Corps.

Sound promising. Allied corps it is then. I am also hoping for Africa. Any clues about when?

The next DLCs have been announced as Grand Campaign 41-45 (one per month is aimed at - not promised!). Not sure where Africa fits in with this plan.

Well didn't Rommell arrive in Africa in 41, and the Americans in 42? So sounds like the 41 DLC or 42 DLC.

Uehmmm... no.

The natural starting point is Poland, playing as either Poland or Russia. From a anglo-saxon centric view it is either Norway or Dunkirk. Then there is the Battle of Britain, which should be part of any campaign. And then, apart from defensive battles, the first offensive action were the small attacks on Italian troops in Egypt at Sidi Barrani in September 1940 and then the big attack in December. Then came Bardia in January of 1941, Tobruk, Derna and Beda Fomm (south of Bengasi) on the 7th of February. The offensive ended with the taking of El Agheila.

Then came Rommel with his offensive until April, up to Sollum, east of Tobruk.

Next action in Africa was Operation Crusader, on 18th November 1941, which managed to break open the siege around Tobruk and throw Rommel back.

El Alamein happened only in 1942, even after Rommel finally took Tobruk on 20th June 1942. Montgomery's offense in the 2nd battle of El Alamein started 23rd October 1942. From then it was just 3 weeks to Operation Torch on November 13th.

So.... a LOT happened before El Alamein. When an allied campaign comes, I am really looking forward to see:
- Dunkirk
- Battle of Britain
- Guadalcanal
- Phillipines

EDIT: And, of course, the Dieppe Raid. Which, btw, was also before El Alamein.

Well if you are going to start the desert campaign in Russia, the question becomes... do you go around Turkey or through it?

???
