battle academy slow animations again!
Awhile back I had the issue of slow animations during the replay of my opponents turn in MP, and I was able to fix it by deselecting full screen from the options menu before opening the game. I upgraded to 1.6.1 beta, and now I am having the problem again. This time though when I go back to that screen I dont have full screen clicked, and I have the normal resolution I usually play the game at selected. No changes on my part, just the beta patch made the animations slow again. Its frustrating. Any ideas how I can resolve this?

There haven't really been any changes to that code in the update. Can you try running in fullscreen and then switching back, although it shouldn't make a difference.
Have you updated your video drivers recently (although sometimes windows will do it automatically).
Another question - do you have any kind of automatic CPU speed system running (e.g. power saving etc)?
Cheers

Slow animations
I've tried what you recommended Pip to fix the slow animations and still nothing. I checked my video display drivers and they havent been automatically updated by any program. In fact I made sure I had the same up to date drivers that I had months ago when the game ran fine. I tried checking the full screen button at the introduction and opening an MP game to test, and still slow replay animations. I then unchecked full screen and still had slow animations when before deselecting full screen was what fixed it. I do game on a laptop so I checked the automatic settings for power saving and they are all set to maximize performace, and I run straight off the AC adapter anyway so its not an issue of maximizing battery life when running the game. I guess I could try restore to about a week ago, since that was about the time I noticed it. I know you said nothing really was tweaked as far as graphics with the 1.6.1 beta, so im stuck on what may be causing the issue. I will let you know if restore works or not. Thanks for the suggestions though.
Solved it!
I know you said that the 1.6.1 beta didnt really make any changes that would have caused the slow down in replay animations, but after restoring my computer back a week and clean installing BA, and reregistering my expansions, problem has been fixed. MP games run fine again. Thank you for your suggestions, I was able to rule some issues out. Back to gaming!

Hmmm - that is strange. I will check and see if there is anything it could be. I confess that I missed the 1.6.1 part, as that does have a few changes (all of which should be optimisations!) driven by the iPad code.
Do the slowdowns happen on all maps and with all games?
Also, do the slowdowns still happen in fullscreen with your restored 1.6.0 version?
Cheers

Troubleshooting the slow animations
Just to help narrow down the issue if it might be one with the 1.6.1 beta patch, as I said I have no problems now after the sys restore and clean BA install with the animations in MP games with "full screen" unchecked which is how I usually run it. That is fixed on my part. If it helps you with the troubleshooting, I ran the game with "full screen" clicked and like usual, that slowed down the replay animations as expected for me, and simply unchecked it after testing it. It was also with all the MP maps against different opponents, I randomly opened my turns when I was trying to figure it out on my own. The only thing I can think it might have been was the 1.6.1 beta patch. I checked all my graphics drivers as well and none of them updated which might have caused it. If I am the only one, maybe its just my specific setup. Thanks for all the help though Pip. I am good to go!
