Newcommer with a Muslim Question

Post by JohnnyReb »

Hi guys,
I'am new here and have a question about the correct Muslim Army I have to use in the following case:

I would like to build up a historical Muslim FoG-Army who invaded Spain in 710 (fighting the Visigoths) and who was beaten by Karl Martell (French Merowinger) at the battle of Tours and Poitiers in 732.

The problem for me is, what Muslim list do i have to use in that case?
The Umayyad List do not cover the later Umayyads in Spain (as noted in the description of the list) and the Andalusien-List (Wolfes from the Sea) starts to late (in 755).
The Arab Conquest List ends in 685.

Any Idea?

thx in advance,
Rob

OK, first point - there is no list that actually covers the initial forces in Spain I'm afraid. These were heavily Berber and, for reasons I cannot recall, it was decided not to do a Special Campaign sub-list for this.

The list that (theoretically) covers the Umayyad's in Spain before the fall of their Damascus based khalifate is the Umayyad list in Decline & Fall - the later Umayyads referred to in the notes to that list is the Spanish Umayyad khalifate set up following the take over of the 'Abbasids in 755AD.

I say "theoretically" because I'm not really happy that the Umayyad list covers the Spain based armies properly and that the Andalusian list from Wolves from the Sea is better for that, and we should have set the start date for that list at about 720.

Can we have that as an official errata, please Nik?
