I've been playing the GS 2.0 version just fine - until Turn 86 (about April 1944). The game's AI begins it's turn and then freezes - at the same point every time, locking up the game.
Sure would like to finish this particular game...2 spaces away from cutting the Russians off in the Caucasus, 4 spaces away from Moscow, while keeping the Allies at bay. This is a long, slow game that I just don't feel like starting all over again. So, anybody else with this type of issue that can lend a hand ?
Specs are: Vista, 3 Gbs, Intel 9400, NVidia 8800.

Re: GS 2.0 game freeze/lockup
Hi,
Same issue for me too
Turn is September 14, 1944 (93) and the game does not advance to the next turn but gets stuck/seems to freeze during the AI's turn. I am playing as the Axis.
Specs are:
Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo CPU @ 2.66 GHz (2 CPUs), 2GB RAM, NVIDIA Quadro NVS 290
Has anyone else has had this issue and if so, has it been resolved?
I did notice that the java.exe process seems to keep gobbling up more and more system memory as it runs. The program never seems to return any memory back to the system until a very large amount of physical memory has been allocated to the application...I suspect a java memory leak to be the culprit

This is my first game against the AI and I would really like to finish it. I am also worried that this could happen again if I start a new game

Re: GS 2.0 game freeze/lockup
After reading a few more Tech Support posts, I realized the issue could perhaps be related to the "random convoy movement bug"...
see: viewtopic.php?f=33&t=30544
Is there anyway to turn off this option in game?
Thanks,
C

Yes ... on the options screen before starting a game you can click off, "More random convoy movement". However; I'm afraid once a game is underway there's no way to disable this option. This bug is fixed in GSv2.10, which should be coming out shortly.Christolos wrote:After reading a few more Tech Support posts, I realized the issue could perhaps be related to the "random convoy movement bug"...

Re: GS 2.0 game freeze/lockup
I did some more testing and determined that the game freeze/lockup is not due to the randon convoy movement bug after all. The game locks up consistently after the convoys have moved and always during one the AI's air attacks as though something just gets clogged up...so I'm thinking "java memory leak again"...Christolos wrote:After reading a few more Tech Support posts, I realized the issue could perhaps be related to the "random convoy movement bug"...

I am able to get the turn to play out and advance to the next by limiting the amount of moves and attacks I conduct to about 3/4 of what I previously did...so the freezing/locking up seems to be related to the problem occuring when a certain state/threshold is reached in terms of the amount of moves/attacks made during my (the Axis) turn. This suggests that the game sort of just "clogs up" if it has too much to do/process leading to something getting mishandled...
I am not versed enough on what can cause a java memory leak but my guess is that the certain state/threshold that gets reached when I try to do a lot more during my portion of the turn could be what is doing it...
