Medieval Iberian Invitation Tournament . . .

Post by stockwellpete »

A star-studded line up for my second invitation event. Sorry that it has been a bit delayed. The entrants are . . .

hidde (Granadines)
The Gray Mouser (Navarrese)
Triarius (Medieval Castilians)
Batesmotel (Santa Hermandad Nueva Castilians)
RussProv (Medieval Crown of Aragon)
stockwellpete (Medieval Portuguese)

500pts, FOW and DM on, all allies are permitted.

Scoring system - 5pts for a win and 2pts for a draw. An extra bonus point can be won if, when winning a battle, you lose less than 50% of your own break points.

Please note: RussProv will be away until Saturday 8th October.

Let play commence . . . :D

Sorry Fedem, not this time. I will put you in the book for the next one though which will start after Xmas. Consider yourself invited to that one already. It will be a north European SOA event including armies from Sweden, Denmark, Germany, France, Burgundy and the Low Countries. And after that I will be running an EE invitation event in the spring. :D

Hello Supervark. I tend to invite players who can play comfortably in Division A or Division B of the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (LOEG), so at the moment I think you might find it very hard as you have only just started playing FOG. Just to give an example, I have been playing for a year now and I will be very pleased if can I manage to sneak into third place in the current tournament, to be quite honest. It is more likely that I will come fourth or fifth. The current group of players is very strong - hidde is one of the best players of FOG (maybe he is number 3 or 4 overall) and he has kindly agreed to be the Granadines as they are the weakest Iberian army in the lists. Triarius came second in Division A of LOEG for "Storm of Arrows" last time and he has just given me a severe battering in our game (the final scoreline flatters me somewhat  ) and Batesmotel is another very fine player indeed. Myself, TGM and RussProv are at a similar level to each other, solid B or B+ players in LOEG terms, if you see what I mean.

So what I would say is - get some more experience in LOEG and the other competitions that are being held regularly and see how you get on. And challenge some of the players that I have mentioned in friendly games so that you can get a handle on how good they are (bloody good is the answer  ). I will be holding a medieval event quarterly (-ish), so the next one will start January/February and the one after that in the spring.

In the meantime I shall be putting you down for a good few games in the finals of NAFF, which will be starting in 3-4 weeks time. I hope that is OK, Supervark.

Cheers Stockwellpete. Will by happy to play a few more challanges before trying to compete with those guys lol. Probably going to be quite awhile before I am good enough. This game is a lot more complex than I first thought. Thanks for the games in the NAFF though much appreciated.

I am just finishing my game with RussProv, TGM - so he should be available to play your match shortly. I played Mike last week so he has started the tournament in good time.
