Khurasan's new Eastern German tribes

Post by khurasan_miniatures »

Hello all, we are very pleased to bring the rest of our Later Roman/Early Byzantine range back up for sale! We have now restored the Western Huns and the Later Germans to the summer store.

To celebrate the return of the Germans we have six new codes to represent German tribes that migrated through the East or were otherwise influenced by Eastern dress and equipment -- tribes such as the Ostrogoths, Gepids, and later the Lombards.

The first new set is the Eastern German infantry spearmen, who have a longer spear and a large wicker shield. They wear steppe trousers and have a combination of bare heads, metal helmets and the Germanic take on the phyrgian cap.

The next set is the infantry archers, so important to the Ostrogothic battle line. These also wear the steppe trousers.

To lead the new infantry we have commanders wearing steppe trousers. Whilst here we have depicted them without shields, the pack has round shields supplied.

Image

The armoured nobles have "sarmaticised" and now have a long lance rather than the spear. They also have steppe trousers. Whilst depicted here without shields, these are supplied with shields in case you want them, but they would probably have used their lances two handed.

Image

The followers who would have been far and away the bulk of any cavalry force retain more traditional combat methods but now have the steppe trousers as well.

Finally the high command have the steppe trousers as well (and shields are supplied optionally for these too in case you want to add them).

Thanks marco! :)

Actually the store was only down for about two-three weeks, then I put up a summer store so that I could reorganise the stock and packing routine. The summer store has some 15mm historical models available, along with sci fi ranges. I'm hoping to have the full store back by mid-October, as I've made excellent progress in the reorganisation.

... with a full stock of Kofun Nara ;)

BTW is there any plan to create an ancient Korean range ? For allies with my Kofun, I will first use my Warring States minis, but I would be pleased to see some Koreans from the same "creator" than the Kofun Nara range in a few months. Three Kingdom Koreans and Koryo Koreans are good FOG armies but are lacking miniatures range. If I'm not wrong, except Touller, there's no good Korean miniatures.

Actually our Three Kingdoms Koreans are in the casting process now. They were not created by the same sculptor that made the Kofun, but they are created by the same sculptor who made the Tang. They were made to conform with the FoG list and are at various stages in the mouldmaking process now. Everything in this business (except incurring bills!) happens at a glacial pace, so I'm not sure when they will be available, but they will be! Hopefully by the end of the year.

Great, the Tang range is fine, so the Korean should be the same.
And beeing a Three Kingdom Korean range, the miniatures will better fit accuracy with my Kofun than the Korean range from Touller Miniatures.
