Idea for matched team competition

Post by hazelbark »

Cross posted from Yahoo lists.

Teams of two enter. Each team has 1 TYW Protestant and 1 TYW Catholic army.

(you would need to define armies)

Teams play versus Teams. So you track Team victories, but also the progress
of who is winning the TYW.

You could do something similar for other periods. The issues is since each
team comes from religion list there is not an issue of Catholic or
protestant armies being better.

Now all we need is a few places to run it or something like it.

I have thought of this before, but I would regard it as a way to run open tournaments, as each team could bring a historically matched pair of armies from any time covered by the rules. It would allow some of the more obscure armies to be seen in competition and also give an opportunity to design armies that use a wider range of the options even in popular lists.

As I said in the email Dan, I think this could be a winner for a 4 team tourney, with both sides having 2 Catholic & 2 Protestant armies, then as a Catholic player playing both the opposing Protestant armies in a day etc.

Maybe for variety make it one early and one late 30 yrs war from each religion to stop people turning up with the same army composition.
