Cohesion loss from nearby routing

I just had what I consider to be an odd occurance and wonder if anyone knows the rule on this one. I had two MF, side by side, fighting 1 cavalry BG. One MF was Fragmented, the other, Disrupted. The fragmented unit routed and caused the other one to route as well (thus losing 2 cohesion levels). I know this can happen from being severly beated in combat, but I was not aware that it occured from nearby routers. Any ideas on how this works?

Units adjacent to seeing a friend rout need to make a cohesion test with a - modifier (believe its -1 but you can check the manual for the specifics) If your 2 6d roll is low enough you can drop 2 cohesion levels. (cant recall what the # to beat is)
Also rember that a units curret level moral, ie fragged or disrupted, causes additional - modifiers when forced to test. Basically its a downward spiral. I have had 8 plus steady units rout from a crescendo of action- reaction to one nearby routing unit, the dreaded "chain rout"
