The terrain features themslves (trees shrubs etc) are ok , functional if a little bland. No issues there.
The thing that is striking aesthitically though ( in a bad way) is that FOG is the only tactical wargame I know that MIXES perspectives when in game, with some items being 3d isometric and others being pure, flat 2d.. This really does give an odd effect and the hybred result is you feel neither immersed into a tabletop feel, nor in a more standard pc game way.
To clarify , the units , some terrian features like trees etc are all basically 3d isometric (the illusion of being 3d with being so) , yet elevation (ie hills) are from a TOP DOWN FLAT perspective.... Very odd mix that does somewhat take away from the immersion.
Maybe its way to late in the grand scheme of things, but any thoughts on making the map 3d isometric? This seems to have been pretty much a standard since the 90's for tactical games
