Can I ask for some assistance on the subject of routing/evading? Does the 6th bullet in the evade rules make the other 5 redundant or am I not seeing the point. In a game the other day a BG of Galatian cavalry routed after the impact phase after being beaten up by Parthian Cataphracts and light horse however their path was blocked by a friendly BG of warriors(impact foot) who were directly behind them offering encouragement. The cavalry couldn't pass them by shifting/contracting by 1 base so should they have burst through them and disrupt the foot or as the 6th bullet seems to suggest just short move and stop infront of them.
What we decided is that they didn't burst through and were caught by the pursuers which led to them autobreaking due to the loss of 2 bases, however the impact foot passed a cohesion test and then charged my Cataphracts in the following Impact phase.
Was this the right interpretation of the evade/rout move? :?

Simon,

This is probably beter asked on the beta forum (if you can't access the beta forum contact JD and tell him your loginID) rather than the open one but I will try to answer anyway.

It sounds like from the situation that you describe the routers should burst through the foot to their rear. This leaves the foot rather vulnerable to a charge from the victorious cataphracts.

I am not sure what you mean by the sixth bullet. It could depend on the version of the rules you have. Essentially if a broken BG can slide and contract out of the way it will do so, if it can't then it just bursts through whatever is in the way.
