My Field marshal campaign

Post by adrianoku »

Finished the main campaign at colonel level I'm trying to get the victory at Field marshal level, this time I give you some numbers, perhaps it could be useful... or not :D

Poland – 26/8/2011

Started with 969 pretige points (pp.). The objective is to preserve as more as pp as possible, so I’ll try to be cautious. Bought a Stuka, a Pioniere unit and an artillery. After these improvements I remained with 310 pp.
I didn’t noticed any changing from colonel level, this scenario remains very easy to win with decisive victory, ( obviously remains my great advantage to remember which units the enemy has and where they are). I didn’t lose any unit and ended on 23 September 1939, turn 12 , with 1056 pp. and decisive victory, now let’s go for Norway.
Decisive victory.

Unit list:

Wehrmacht Inf. 4
Pioniere 1
Gebirasjager 1
Ju87B 1
Bf110C 1
Bf109E 1
Art. 10,5cm leFH18 2
Panzer IB 1
Panzer IIC 1
Panzer IIIE 1

Norway 26/8/2011 – 27/8/2011

Started with 1776pp, bought a level bomber and a fighter, upgraded Panzer IB to Panzer IIIF and one Panzer IIIE to F, reinforced all units, remained with 351pp.
Also here I didn’t see too many differences from colonel level, perhaps it’s a little more difficult to destroy enemies, to obtain decisive victory must be well organized with paratroops. Finished on turn 17, the last for DV , 25 April 1940 with 1962 pp remaining. Ah, lost a pioniere unit sigh…
Decisive victory.

Unit list:

Wehrmacht Inf. 4
Pioniere 1
Gebirasjager 1
Art. 10,5cm leFH18 2
Panzer IIC 1
Panzer IIIF 2
Bf109E 2
Ju88A 1
Ju87B 1
Bf110C 1

Low countries 27/8/2011 – 28/8/2011

Unit list:

Granadier 4
Pioniere 1
Gebirasjager 1
Art. 15cm sFH18 4
Panzer IVD 1
Panzer IIIF 3
Bf109E 4
Ju88A 1
Ju87B 1
Bf110C 1

It’s important to follow Von Manstein plan, decisive is the penetration from south and having a good air force. Started with 2722pp ended with 2109, upgraded all my art. to 15cm and bought two others pieces, Panzer IIC upgraded to Panzer IIIF and bought a Panzer IVD. Luftwaffe reinforced with two others Bf109E.
Decisive victory.

France 28/8/2011

A fierce resistance at the beginning, but from turn 10 it was a run through bocage!
Started with 2949pp bought some units and reinforced my army, remaining 1837 pp. Ended the scenario on 15th turn on18/6/1940 with 3175 pp.
Bought one more Pioniere, and as level bomber another JU88A. During the battle I lost a Panzer IVD and a Bf110C suddenly re-bought.
Mhhh… until now I was able to obtain all decisive victory, but I lost some units, this doesn’t happened during the campaign at colonel level.

Unit list:

Granadier 4
Pioniere 2
Gebirasjager 1
Art. 15cm sFH18 4
Panzer IVD 1
Panzer IIIF 3
Bf109E 4
Bf110C 1
Ju87B 1
Ju88A 2

Decisive victory.

PS: Now I've finished my holidays  ( and perhaps I'll start studying another game, War in the East ), so this "reference diary" could not be as frequent as it is now!

Stalingrad - 7/9/2011

I didn't take note of other scenery before this one sorry  , however let's say that nothing was too difficult until now. I started this battle with some fear because I wanted decisive victory ( I know it's not necessary, but my ego need it 8) ) and the last time I played it at colonel level it was hard!
On the contrary with proper use of fallschirmjager and all slots available for my units I won the battle on the last turn, 19th.
These are the numbers:

Started with 9352 pp. and remaining with 4195 after upgrading and reinforcements I finished the battle on turn 19, with 6010 pp. and decisive victory!
Honestly I would never used strategy I used this time if it was the first time I played it.
Unit list:

Granadier 4 / Infantry 3 / Pioniere 2 / Fallschirmjager 2 / Gebirasjager 1 / Art. 21cm 4 / Panzer IIIN 5 / Panzer IV 1 / Sdkfz232 1/
Bf109F 2 / Bf109G 2 / Bf110G 1 / He177A 2 / Ju87D 1

I'm impressed! That was by and far the hardest win upto America at least

The first time I played it I got marginal victory, on colonel level ! This time the things were made easier because I had a general idea of what and where I could encounter, and this it's a great thing for a general (also for a low level as I am ) eh eh ! 8)

I'm impressed (amazed) at how well you are doing with such an infantry heavy force. I look forward to seeing how you do with the Kursk scenario.

Well played! To me you have a very well balanced force for the Stalingrad scenario. Interested in seeing your next AAR.
Thanks for posting Gatto. :!:

I know these aren't real AARs, I hope they could be useful to see which and how many units or units type can be used for a scenario, or to see the progress of prestige points during a campaign.

@billmv44
Perhaps I choose too many inf. , but not too much, probably one tank more and one inf less could be the right choice in my opinion. However two fallschirmjager and one gebirasjager were necessary to obtain decisive victory.
