Supply Penalties and Winter Effects.

Post by firepowerjohan »

Game now has some significant improvements with weather and supply limitations.

- There is a one time event of severe USSR winter firing anywhere from October 1941 to February 1942 which makes a sudden large (especially to Axis units) drop of effectiveness (will take several turns to recover) to units within USSR boundaries.

- There is now SUPPLY_PENALTY_DISTANCE meaning the distance for a unit and its Capital. It is only in places like USSR that this will mean anything and give a penalty so the mere distance seem to be a good approach.

distance 0-24 no penalty
distance 25-49 - 1 supply
distance 50+ -2 supply

so this means already around Moscow, a unit instead of supply 5 (=full supply) will have supply 3. The penalty is capped so that a unit can never get more than -2 penalty.

Good thinking, sounds great! Can't wait for this game, since the new WW2 game by Muzzylane seems totally unballanced and unrealistic so far (a guy said he had 160 tank divisions!!)

I bet CEaW will be a winner!

It is changed now so that the winter event is repeated, occuring once every year but with decreasing effect (simulating improved logistics). So every winter you do not know exactly when the cold streak will hit but you can be assured that it will come eventually.
