Battle of Muret 1213

Post by Micha63 »

Unbelivable, 1000 soldiers can beat 30000 opponents. But when a army has skilled leaders all is possible.
The key for the victory of the crusaders was the killing of king peter i think.
However, againe a wonderful scenario, thanks to stockwellpete.

Thanks Micha, glad you enjoyed it. I tend to play FOG in the same way that King Peter fought this battle. I am now known as "the muppet of murret".

I think they need to use their spearmen to try and block the Crusader cavalry a bit and they need to outflank them as well. Using the terrain that is available (the marsh) should also help them.

I know that, Frank - but then my self-ridiculing muppet joke wouldn't work properly. :D

I have found a couple of books in the library where I work on the Cathars, Micha. Hopefully they will give more info on this battle. I think the Comminges and Foix contingents are a bit one-dimensional at the moment so I should be able to toughen them up with some HF defensive spearmen. Give me a few days to read the material and hopefully I will be able to update to version 2 on Sunday.

Take your time pete, no hurry needed, i"m busy with my cold war campaign in people general at the moment. I create a scenario
about russian troops invade the southern cost of england (a fictional campaign ).

When i can help you making scenarios better by playtesting it a plesure and honor for me.
