Can't connect to the multiplayer server.

Post by flatsix518 »

Howdy! I have had multiple failures to connect to the multiplayer server. I've also noticed slow connection to www.slitherine.com as well. I'm doing OK connecting to other websites (non-slitherine). Here is the connection error:

Categorised as: Network connection error (Code -1)
(Whole response) State: Verify
Response Type: Page Received
HTTP Status: 504
Time: 2011-08-12 12:59:06
Content: <xml>?<DOCTYPE>?<html>?<head>?<title>The request failed</title>?</head>?<body>?<p><big>Service Unavailable.</big></p>?<p>?<i>Technical description:</i><br>504 Gateway Time-out - The web server is not responding</p>?</body>?</html>

Thanks in advance,

John

I've been having this problem all day: Error code 1. not enough data. Hope this gets sorted out soon. I've got a lot of league turns to do.

I'd like to be able to play the turns even without being connected to the server. Any chance of that happening?

I had the same problem this morning. Could not connect to the Slitherine site. When I finally did connect, it wouldn't recognize my password. Had to request a new password to log in.

This is the second time in about two months that I've had to request a new password.

But you were eventually able to get on? I don't seem to have a password problem, unless that's what "not enough data" means.

Deeter,
The fact that you can post messages means that your password is okay. I can also log on to multiplayer now that I re-did my password. If you can log on to the forum but not multiplayer, it sounds like you have another problem.

Think everybodies getting problems... think there server was on overload... maybe wrong.

Their Administration were looking into it, last time it happened... and I think there a post saying it will down totally for 5 hours on the 28th.
After a careful evaluation and a number of stress tests carried out by the server technicians, Slitherine has decided to upgrade the whole system at the end of August in order to face the increasing traffic and offer players around the world the best possible gaming experience before we hit the Christmas season when many of our new titles will be released. This will of course result in a faster and better gaming experience.

As a result of this change, the Slitherine servers will be closed for maintenance and upgrades on the 24th August at 8am CET, for 5 hours till 1pm CET making the PBEM++ multiplayer system and all other web services unavailable during that time.

Slitherine and Matrix Games are constantly investing in improvements to their infrastructure, in order to support our growing community and to make their wargaming experience as smooth and clean as possible no matter where in the world they are based.

The server has been struggling over the last few weeks and we are upgrading it later this week. Hopefully this will resolve the issues.
