At the start of the year, it seemed all I could find was talk about em, but here it is later portion of summer and I have actually held the things in my hands.
I have learned they are not cheap, but, hey we are not kids crying over every last increment of 5 bucks either

It has been my experience that adults when they want something, won't let price dictate to a point.
All I have needed the things to do, is at the least render a page in colour near to original size ... check, and play my wargames via a capable enough OS (which is now even possible to be Windows 7) ... check. I have also seen that some even come with Splashtop software preloaded so I guess that program is actually liked that much.
So I am just curious, how many tablet owners are around here?
I ask, because as I see it, the tablet is the future. The Nintendo DS can go 3d I couldn't care less any more. Not interested in the Vita either, as I can't see why I would want something smaller than a 10 inch screen if I wanted an alternative to my laptop.
500 bucks might deter a teenager, but it won't deter me. Saying the DS/Vita are only half the price means nothing. They are also only pocket sized tiny screens too.
I'm soooo saving up for a tablet. The ability to play what I have always wanted to play on a portable device.
