Battle of Courtrai 1302 - open play-test

Although this battle cannot be considered part of the Scottish Wars of Independence, it did have very important repercussions for that conflict inasmuch as the French were less able to directly support the Scots after their stunning defeat at the hands of the Flemish urban militias.

There is another very good version of this knocking around on FOG but I have done it again as the original does not include the town or the castle on the battle-map. The troop deployment in mine has been directly copied from the first version though as I have been unable to find any more specific information.

I have one play-test running with Russ at the moment, but please feel free to join in and test the game with someone else - if you can feed comments back here then that will be most helpful.

Updated to version 2.

I don't know if anyone has play-tested this one, but in the games I have played the Flemish have got hammered which is contrary to the historical outcome. So I have tipped it towards the Flemings quite a bit - French spears are all now "defensive" HF and the number of mounted French knights has been reduced. I have also re-drawn the defensive "earthworks" prepared by the Flemings. I hope it is more balanced now.
