Suggestion regarding German synth oil

Post by Peter Stauffenberg »

It seems to me that with the changes we made for stopping the German armor and mech blobs then the Germans can actually run out of oil too soon.

I would therefore suggest that we could link the max production from the Scholven and Leuna synth oil fields to the German industry level.

E. g. :
Industry level 0: 0 production
Industry level 1-3: 1 production
Industry level 4-5: 2 production
Industry level 6: 3 production

These oilfields were bombarded late in the war, but with a possible higher oil output then the Germans could do more to protect them. Historical documents show that the German synth oil production increased quite a bit later in the war.

Remember that actual oil per turn is 4* remaining production in the hex.

What do you think? This could maybe counter the quick drop in German oil levels and make the Allies give priority in bombing these synth oil plants.

Sounds interesting given the MECH fuel consumption increases . Quite a few German players target Ind level 4 early on so they should get some benefit by 1943 - I can usually get to Ind tech 4 by around Oct 42....

I will put the following values in general.txt. This means we can alter the values if we want to. We can even create a third synth oil plant if we really want that. I read that Germany actually had an oil plant in Austria, but I don't know where.

/* ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- */
/* German synth oil plant production */
/* ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- */
PRODUCTION_AT_INDUSTRY_TECH_0 0 /* PP's from each hex. Oil = PP's * 4 */
PRODUCTION_AT_INDUSTRY_TECH_1 1 /* PP's from each hex. Oil = PP's * 4 */
PRODUCTION_AT_INDUSTRY_TECH_2 1 /* PP's from each hex. Oil = PP's * 4 */
PRODUCTION_AT_INDUSTRY_TECH_3 1 /* PP's from each hex. Oil = PP's * 4 */
PRODUCTION_AT_INDUSTRY_TECH_4 2 /* PP's from each hex. Oil = PP's * 4 */
PRODUCTION_AT_INDUSTRY_TECH_5 2 /* PP's from each hex. Oil = PP's * 4 */
PRODUCTION_AT_INDUSTRY_TECH_6 3 /* PP's from each hex. Oil = PP's * 4 */
SYNTH_OIL_HEX_1 5567 /* Scholven. 99999 = no plant */
SYNTH_OIL_HEX_2 6000 /* Leuna. 99999 = no plant */
SYNTH_OIL_HEX_3 99999 /* No plant. 99999 = no plant */

This certainly doesn't make it harder for the Axis. On the contrary. They get MORE, not less, oil from their synth plants with these changes. It's up to the Germans to protect the plants from bombing.

to protect the plants from bombing will cost at least 3 fuel each time for each plant & also some pp . Although Axis get more but they have to pay more .
