Game Crash During Video

Post by GSlapshot »

The game crashes when the attempting to exit the video. Renaming the video folder appears to have cleared up the problem. Game runs great with this fix but you have to let the video run all the way through otherwise.

Sorry you are having problems.

Could you please post the log file written by the game? It is located in %My Documents%\My Games\Panzer Corps\Log\log.txt

Ok the log file is below. The game starts, loads normally but if you hit a mouse button when the video is playing I get a dialog box stating PanzerCorps.exe needs to close and do I want send a message to MS. If I rename the Video folder the game loads normally and plays fine. The video plays fine with sound and graphics to the end.

Well I have checked my codecs & everything looks fine. I have reloaded the game and still have the Sam problem. The video plays but if you try & exit or at the end, I get a dialog box saying that an error has been encountered and must close but it doesn't. I am back at the splash screen asking me if I want to play the game or change settings. Again if I rename the video folder the game works fine and no crashes. The renamed video folder has the game going to the splash screen of new game, load game and the screen with the tanks on it.

Three questions

1. How did you check your codecs?

2. Can you play the video with windows media player?

3. Did you install third party codecs packs like K-Lite for example?

One suggestion I can make so far, is to try this codec: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/de ... spx?id=507

I checked my codecs with the DirectX diagnostic tool. I also ran MS's Codec Fix it center. I reinstalled Windows Media Player 11 for XP. The video plays fine in the game or from Window's Media Player but in the game it stumbles when trying to exit the video or at the end and doesn't go to the splash screen to play the game. If I rename the video file, I go directly from the play PZC splash screen to the New/Load Game Splash screen. The game plays fine.
