Indian javelinmen/archers

Post by stevesykes »

Under DBM, these troops can be combined on double bases. How will they be handled under AoW? I ask because I'm in the process of basing some up and I'd like to do it appropriately for AoW.

AoW does not have compulsary double bases and the Classical indian javelinmen are medium foot so on 20mm deep (assuming 15mm) bases. I would definitely base my archers 3 to a base on 20mm deep bases. I would base the javelinmen either 3 to a base on 20mm (which is OK for the front of a DBM Bw(X) but restricts them to Bd(F)) or 4 to a base on a 15mm base (which with a filler would allow DBM DBE but would mean the javelinmen would be wrong for AoW).

Also bear in mind that DBMM has made big changes to Classical Indian and there are no DBE's in the DBMM list now.

A safe compromise would be 3 archers to a 20mm base and 3 javelins to a 15mm base that could be stuck on a 20mm base if needed but that is a touch messy.

At least you haven't already got 20 bases of really nicely based Classican Indian Bw(X) that are based on thick plasticard with magnabase and textured filler :(

Almost certainly not.

Probably not. However, if they do you'll probably need separate bases of javelinmen and archers for them anyway so if looking towards AoW you're best to base them that way as it covers all the options :)

I am not intending rebasing but I have made some 'change' so I will be using my DBM double based archers as medium foot bow. If I can work out a way to saw my bases in half I will but it is not an urgent issue.

The Indians work perfectly fine with BGs of Archers and fewer BGs of javelinmen. My army from Leeds for those interested:

1 FC and 3 TC
2 x BG each of 2 El
5 x BG each of 8 Ave UnDrilled Unprotected Medium Foot - Bow.Swordsmen
2 x BG each of 6 Ave Undrilled Protected Medium Foot - Lt Spear/Swordsmen
1 x BG of 6 Ave Undrileld UnProtected Light Foot - Bw
1 x BG of 4 Sup Undrilled HCh - Bow
1 x BG of 4 Sup UnDrilled LCh - Bow
2 x BG each of 4 Ave Undrilled Unprotected Cavalry - Lt Sp

Cheers
