Is it possible to save France against Axis human player?

Hello, I'm playing my first ever game of CEW. I'm playing the Allies, and decided to go all out trying to save France. By mid-August 1940 the French units were starting to crumble, and I decided to pull out the UK and Canadian troops which I had there in numbers for fear of them getting caught in a French surrender. It is now early September, and France is likely to fall next turn. I managed to do some key counter attacks and have given the Germans a bloody nose, destroying one Panzer corps and damaging several other corps (it is my opponents first game too, so I feel he isn't exploiting breakthroughs as well as he could). So, my question is, is it possible against a human player to save France, or have I done as about as good as I can under the circumstance?

I would say no, unless the Axis player is very bad.

Most players manage to capture Paris in June (July if heavy British support).

I have delayed the fall of France well into 41 by heavy BEF committment against a relatively new player. As a new player myself I was once repelled by the combined Allied might and my incompetence. If the Allies can take out a few ARMs they can delay things a long time against a very new player. Against an experienced player the best you can hope for is a lucky take out of a valuable unit and possibly to delay fall of Paris to July.

It's practically impossible against any Axis player, unless the Axis goes for a 1940 Barbarossa. Then, the French could turn out very strong.
