my impressions (few)

Post by podbelski »

Hi,

I've been given an opportunity to take part in a final beta-testing, unfortunately have a very little time atm to try out everything I want. Below are my impressions after about 2 hours of play in total. Btw I'm a long-time wargame fan, started from the beginning of PG1 series, though had not played for a few years till recently.

I downloaded my version on Wed 29, guess it is "RC3b".

1) till the beginning of the tutorial: liked everything, quick and concise. I'm already a fan of "subtle" hex sides, usually I turn off hexes completely. Then I started the tutorial, and have not finished it yet. So all my comments based on the tutorial game.

2) I expected that movement/attacking is done by left-clicking, and still have trouble misclicking.

3) Seems every occurence of quotes misses the opening one, like on a pop-up of a "soft attack" number, it says "The unit's attack strength against soft" (i.e. ...); same for hard attack, and reckon movement.

4) First time I could not find how to upgrade units during the deployment phase, though I was sure it has to be somewhere.

5) I find that movement indicators are clear to understand but look sort of untidy (those white arrows and icons depicting possible actions for the selected unit).

6) After about an hour and a half of studying and playing, I reached 4rd tutorial map, found everything I want to do with my units by now, and enjoy the game in general. I like the possibility of making an attack separate of movement, plus some features taken from PGForever. Units design and stats look great so far.

Unfortunately looks like I won't be able to play the oncoming week, so can just wish the best for the future of this project, and for the development team :)

TY and GL
