What happened to them? Were they so utterly wrong under DBM? I had a huge shock when I went to use
my hungarian drilled WWg only to find they're not allowed to be drilled and take a CMT to do anything, I thought I remembered a part about even needing a CMT to move but couldn't find it.
They don't shoot anymore and they can't make contact so as I understand it they're effectively fortifications but with the problem that you can't stick bow behind them? This is obviously based off one game and an incomplete understanding of the rules.
Clearly their use under DBM is not what the authors want (fair enough, I don't know how they were used historically) but what is their function under AoW?
WWg -> WTF?

The WWg rules are in the process of being changed yet again, so they will in fact end up very similar to in DBM although they won't be able to move so freely.
They are in fact allowed to shoot, with 2 dice each - the 1 dice thing in V5.01 is a mistake.
They have not yet been classified correctly in the army lists. Thete was not much point in doing so until we had decided exactly how we wanted to repesent them.
The Hussite list was the only one that had them classified correctly, but even that is wrong now for the new proposals.
It is on our list of things to do soon after Leeds.
Just a quick summary:
Hussite WWg will be WWG, crossbow, heavy weapon.
They get 1 dice shooting from front or rear, 2 dice from side.
They get 1 dice in close combat to front, 3 dice to side.
The supporting flailmen will be integral to the WWg, so there will be no second rank.
They use normal POAs for their weapons, but are on + for being war wagons. They also ignore enemy armour in close combat (and vice versa).
They will need to pass a CMT to move.
This is in accordance with our reading of history. DBM in our view allows them too much mobility.

As stated above, WWg are not yet correctly classified in the army lists.garyb wrote:So if the WWg army list description doesn't have bow/xbow/firearm then they can't shoot, ie: my hungarians:(
I would imagine that Hungarian WWg would be much the same as Hussites. If so, they would be XBow, HW.
(Note that although the Hussites were the earliest major users of handguns, in fact handguns were vastly outnumbered by crossbows, and as they were in mixed crews we have classifed them all as XBows).
