XP mechanics
I finished the 39' campaign many times and I found that units gain really fast the first two stars. After that Things go realy slow. Getting to the last scenario, most units reach 3+ stars while 1or2 units reach 4 stars.
Is this an intended feature or perhaps the XP gain system should be tuned a bit?

I noticed the same thing as well: really fast getting to 200 experience, but an excruciating grind from there. I also think it needs to tuned a bit; I like a more continuous rate instead of really fast, then really slow. Not only that, the gradual experience gain for new units has been lost as well. If I remember correctly, it was something like 30 experience per scenario, so, for instance, units purchased on the 5th scenario had 150 experience. I really miss that feature. Now, getting units real late in the campaign are overmatched because the enemy units still seem to be getting the gradual experience gain.
I like the new system, it's very conducive to large custom campaigns (30-50 scenarios) because it addresses a major flaw of previous PG titles where experience explodes and your entire core is full of 5 star 15 strength units after only a few battles.
In the relatively short stock campaign, this might need some adjustment, but in the long term, the ability to configure experience growth rates is going to be vital for future content.

I agree with you on that. Anyway, the best solution would rather be to set XP scaling somehow related with the maximoum campaign path instead of a static tuning. Any explanation why the gradual, proportional XP gain for newly purchased units was dropped? It was a nice feature, so that purchasing new units late in a campaign at least had some bit of experience. It was only like 30 XP per scenario, but it was better than getting totally green units late in a campaign. It seems as though the enemy units are getting the XP gain, so your new units can be overmatched, especially later. Was that a trade-off for the new "fast-track to 200XP" system in place now? Maybe we could have a more normal pace to 200XP and also have the gradual XP gain for new units that was in previous versions.
I'm on the default Colonel setting, but I'm not talking about the XP rates for active units. I'm talking about newly purchased units not having any experience at all in later scenarios. In the previous versions, there was an XP gain of about 30 XP per scenario. So, for instance, units bought during Poland had 0 XP, but units bought for Norway had 30 XP (new units for the Low Countries had 60 XP, France it was 90 XP, etc.). In the .999 version, when I buy units late in the campaign, they still have 0 XP, but are going up against enemy units with higher XP because they are still getting the XP jump for each scenario.Kerensky wrote:Experience rates are also tied to difficulty, perhaps this is what you are noticing?
(Faster on easier difficulties, slower as difficulty increases)

Currently, this is not the case.apanzerfan wrote:would be nice to have, i always hated PG's washington scenario, where half of my units (you have ~15 free core slots on that scenario) were newbies.
USA East Coast, new German purchases start with ~300 exp.
USA Mid West, new German purchases start with ~150 exp.
USA West Coast, new German purchases start with ~200 exp.
Although looking at those numbers, East Coast will probably need to be lowered and the other 2 increased, because the campaign path is East Coast -> Mid West -> West Coast.
This may be true that in the individual scenarios new units have XP, but in my campaign, new units have 0 XP no matter which scenario you are in. I'm currently at Moscow and new units still have 0 XP. This was not the case in previous versions and there was a gradual increase of 30 XP per scenario when purchasing new units. I'm just wondering why it was dropped for the campaign or, if it is a possible bug/oversight.Kerensky wrote:Currently, this is not the case.

Because it devaluates character building of your units if you can buy experienced unit and it doesn't help in attaching to such unit.
Experience of Allies should not be so higher to be impossible to fight with them with new units. Maybe first battles should be moping up but they should be ready after it quite fast.

I think by the time the German player reaches pretty far into a campaign, some starting experience may be warranted.
1939 core that reaches USA will have a lot of experience, and the American enemies have to have some experience to be able to put up a fight against them.
New purchases in USA with 0 experience may be too much of a hindrance.
