Melee 2011

G'day all.

Well, the mighty Ghurids will be at Melee. Only their second competition used world-wide I believe.

Be interesting to see how they perform.

Wish me luck during the impact phase.

Ok, the Ghurids did not bad:

Initiative vs Other

Game 1 - Ghurid vs Pagan Burmese = 25-0 (mountains) (interesting fight, with some incredible luck)
Game 2 - Ghurid vs Hungarians = 3.9-21.1 (mountains) (this vs Sean Drummond, so pretty happy with that result, although I should have done slightly better if I'd thought it through better).
Game 3 - Ghurid vs Welsh = 10.2-9.8 (mountains) (great game. A real struggle. Some silly moves on my behalf and some bad luck on my opponents side).
Game 4 - Ghurid vs Inca = 0-25 (agricultural) Game of frustrations. I deployed badly, and then couldn't really fix it. Should have played much better, but cest la vie. Got totally frustrated with the inability to catch the swarm of skirmishers, but I blame myself for not thinking through the pre-battle deployment better.

Since this was my first game ever with the Ghurids in FoG I am pretty pleased with my overall performance. I believe it's a good comp army under V1. I'll give it another go.

Dare I say it, I might even try to play against the Inca again and see if I can deploy better next time.

I'm assuming Ghurid is mostly undrilled foot - so can see that deployment needs to be right.

Yeah, I thought Sean could use a few extra ELO points so let him have a win this time.

3x4 Drilled sup arm bow sword
3x8 Karwah infantry
2xElephants (useful in the game vs the Welsh!!!
