Modding Field of Glory?

Ive managed to figure out how to replace the unit images in game, but i cant figure out any way to edit the rules. Isn't there some file where i can change the values like firearm range and damage and such. Im trying to make a pike and shot mod using modded units from CIV III mods and the Cossacks games. I got the units already and they look good enough, but trying to make gutavs musketeers or a spanish tercio while only using early hand cannons and crossbow stats is proving to be difficult. Anyone have any ideas?

Hmm, my guess is that those files are either encrypted or reside in the exe and thus unmoddable. RANGES are unother thing though as , as you might have noted, there is a unit data field when using the editor to change the range of the weapon on a unit by unit basis(of course it doesnt work) Maybe put in the wish list to have it actually work?

I think making a pike and shot game would be difficult to do w FOG , but depends on what you are trying to represent.

If you are going for that a BG is an actual combined arms unit (and dont mind the actual weapons display as archaic ones ) here is an aproach you could take:

Tercios: make them pikes with lf crossbow or lf bow support (they will be formidable RELATIVE to other BG's on the field

Gustavs brigades: maybe make heavy weapons w medium foot support (that way they get good firepower but dont lose a POA in close combat like spears or pikes would( they lose the rank bonus if medium foot support)

Other foot egiments: either defensive spear or offensive spear with medium bow/x-bow support representing ok firepower but not enough "pikes" to be great in close combat.

reserve the firearms missle weapon for reiters/carbine cavalry.

awww bummer i was really hoping to make firearms effective, but you got a good point about the mixed BGS. i think that will work. also i think i can replace the fire arrow sound with the firearms sound so that my crossbow stat muskets at least sound like muskets. Thanks for the ideas.
