barbarian armies tournament

Post by omarquatar »

hi you all, what about a little barbarian armies tournament set in the turmoil of the 5th century declining empire?
i would propose following armies, 600 pts NO ROMAN ALLIES:
Western Huns
Alans
Gepids
Lombards
Visigoths
Alamans

each player to fight once against each other player, to have a total of five games.
interested pls report here or by private mail

frankpowerful takes the Lombards, so we only need five other players
:)

Actually just posted about joining just this sorta thing.

I have just returned to FoG after a hiatus from gaming in general, so I can be some easy meat for you guys!

I'll take the Western Huns if its available.

I am in Kansas City-CST

as no one else reported to be interested, i think we have 3 choices:
1. not to play at all
2. to play 3 games each, once against all others
3. to play a match AND a rematch with same armies, i.e. 6 games each, twice against the same opponent.

i would go for option 3, pls cast your vote

Frank, I am surprised that there are no more takers. I will be the Tepids if it helps. Perhaps steve-h8 might play too. I am in a friendly game with him at the moment so I will ask if he wants to be the Alamanns.

Stockwell, if SteveH2O cant join I can jump in as the Almonds if that is ok with everyone...

TGM, Steve's in but you are welcome to take the Tepids off me if you want to play in the tournament. As long as Frank gets his 6 players for a viable tournament then I'm easy.

I have spoken to TGM by PM, Frank, and he will play the Gepids in the tournament. I hope it all goes well.

therefore the players are (hope i have them right):
tofman - Visigoths
batesmotel: Alans
steve 8: Alamans
camlan: Western Huns
Gray Mouser: Gepids (aka Tepids)
frankpowerful: Lombards

the scene is between noricum and pannonia in the first half of the 5th century (Visigoths are out of place, but we can imagine there was some contingent straggling out of the general migration path - visigoths were already established in southern Gaul by that time; the rest of the lot is very plausible)

i would suggest to post challenges using a common pwd: barbarians
FoW and double moves allowed
winners pls report results in this thread
have fun

Awesome.........thanks for the spot........since this weekend is Memorial Weekend, my gaming will be a bit sporadic, but I will try and do as many turns as I can. Currently involved in a few 'one off' games that should be wrapped up soon........particularly the one that I am getting schooled with by Steve H8!

Taking in account place and period for the tournament I think Ostrogoth were more appropriate than Visigoths.

hello fellow barbarians
battles are currently raging between Lombards and Huns and Lombards and Alamanns, may Wotan give his favour to the most valiant.
the lombard king Powerulfus will be away for some days, may Freya have patience until he's back.
and by the way, no news form the redoutable Alans, are they sueing for peace?
