Initial thoughts

Firstly, thanks very much for the beta invite, very much appreciated.

A bit of background on me because it affects my perspective on the game. I'm not much of a wargamer, I've played a bit of some of Slitherine's other titles and a few other 'accessible' wargames but something like War in the East is far too complex for me. I'm much more of a traditional turn based strategy gamer. I've also never played any of the games in the Panzer General series. Panzer Corps appeals to me because it's based on games that I've heard a lot about, has a automated PBEM feature and sometimes it's just nice to spread your wings a bit.

Anyway, my initial impressions after a couple of hours play are very positive, the game seems slick and responsive and I didn't encounter any technical issues (except for a few problems with formatting tags being displayed on the tooltips) on my Inspiron 15R laptop.

From reading around on the forum I believe that whilst the tutorial campaign has been implemented, the actual tutorial text is still be done? I've largely worked out most things through trial and error but there is definitely some stuff that I still don't understand.

I do think, however, that there should be a little more information about units - the stats are a little dry and ultimately aren't giving me much information on how I should be using the unit, a little flavour text with some history and an indication of usage would go a long way. Also, I'd really like a more informed breakdown of what's going on in combat - I don't care about the numbers and formulas so much as a list of pluses and minuses being applied - something to help me understand how the predicted numbers are being generated. I think the information is probably there already but a tooltip when you mouse over the predicted numbers would be really useful. I'm going to play more over the week and will feedback any more thoughts that I have.
