37mm anti-tank guns

Post by khill9702 »

I was just curious what the reasoning was behind how the German 37mm Anti tank guns only only shoot once a turn and other AT guns get two. I mean, I know the Germans called it the "Doorknocker" since it was pretty useless against most armor but other AT guns in the game get to fire twice(not factoring promotions that give certain units three chances to fire)

You must be talking about the Steilgranate? This is a special modied AT gun with a huge charge that had to be loaded in the barrel like a rocket. It took a long time to load and was very inaccurate at any range but if it hit you would certainly know about it. It was the only way teh 37mm could do anything to the mid-late war Russian tanks. We decided to make it only have 1 shot. The normal 37mm AT gun you get in the desert scenarios has 2 shots.

Ohhh...makes sense. I think I never realized the two were different in the game but now that you mention it, it explains why I had some success with using the steilgranate in the D-Day plus 3 map. Yeah, just thought it was all the same gun. Thanks.
