USA map issues

Post by OmegaMan1 »

I took a look at the USA scenario today -- wow! I love how the map has been expanded to include a large portion of the east coast of the U.S. I wonder if it in fact is too big now... maybe it should be broken into two scenarios. It definitely looks to be a challenge. I did notice a few city placements that seemed to be a bit off:

1. Hex (6,19) is listed as Cleveland -- this is actually where Atlanta should be located. (Cleveland would be north of where the current map ends.)
2. Hex (8,23) is listed as Atlanta -- this is actually about where Macon is located.
3. Hex (18,25) is listed as Summerville. I think it might be more appropriately listed as Charleston, as this is one of the largest coastal cities in South Carolina.

And finally, a humble request. I notice that my hometown, Baltimore, is missing from the map. If placed it would be in hex (27,5) -- it is one of the largest ports in the mid-Atlantic and would open another possible port for the invading Germans. (And of course I would just love to be able to defend my home city against the Nazi hoarde!) Just a silly suggestion of course.

In any case, the scenario looks very promising and I hope to reach it someday in the campaign game.

I thought Cleveland was a funny city to be placed where it is, but it turns out Cleveland, Ohio isn't the only Cleveland in town.... or rather, isn't the only town named Cleveland. :)

Consider this map, courtesy of google maps:

I circled the relevant cities, and drew a green line from CLEVELAND to ATLANTA to MACON to SUMMERVILLE to MYRTLE BEACH.

Now consider this, a screenshot of the editor:

I circled the relevant cities, and drew a green line from CLEVELAND to ATLANTA to MACON(where it would be) to SUMMERVILLE to MYRTLE BEACH.

So upon close inspection, the current in game map looks pretty accurate to me, wouldn't you agree? Perhaps using Cleveland and Summerville may not have been the best choices, maybe it would be better to have used... say Chattanooga and Charleston, but the bottom line is that the game map isn't wrong. Maybe just ill-advised. :)

Kerensky, I stand corrected... and shame on me, since I live in the U.S. And I thought I knew my geography... After seeing your post I agree the map is more or less correct. However I do think for most of us yanks the use of Cleveland and Summerville would be a bit confusing, so I agree that Chattanooga and Charleston would be better choices.

And Razz, Boston is the home of the infamous tea party... Baltimore, on the other hand, is known for its wonderful steamed crabs. 8)

Hi guys,

I renamed Cleveland to Chattanooga and removed Summerville to include Charleston instead.

Related to this map:
65. Hex 33,0 in USA cannot be captured, hex is out of movement bounds of the map.

Also, there is a city named Albany marked as the Southern most VH on the map. 'Albany' is a pretty well known city in New York (State Capital of the State of New York), I would rename this city to... Leesburg or Putney.

Lastly, this map drained 9000 prestige in upgrades without even batting an eye(Previous scenario was Moscow 1941). I wasn't even able to afford a single Maus, and I only had two King Tigers. After burning all of this prestige, I finished the map with 3000 prestige because there is such a wealth of cities that you capture. This seems to me to be the perfect set up for additional battles to be fought across the Continental USA...

Putney seems to be closer so it is Putney now. That city hex on 33,0 is by design. I removed flag from it so it should be ok.
