Vanishing units!

A strange occurrence in a player vs player game today.
One of my units vanished.
I played my turn and ended my turn, the unit was there.
When the opponent's turn returned my unit had disappeared.
Initially i thought i must have been mistaken, units just don't disappear right?
Well i happened to be using Fraps to take screenshots automated every second. I'd planned to take all the pics and make a video AAR. I have rechecked the footage and the unit simply disappears.
Has anything like this ever happened to you?

It's those ancient special forces, you never see them and units simply disappear!

On a serious note there has been the odd occasion where units became invisible... they were there, but you couldn't see them. It's been a long time since anyone reported it happening though.
