I believe the 'no evade' setting reflects the orders given to the troops. If they fail the CMT then they will disobey the order and run. This reflects the situation when lightly armed skirmishers are told to stand, but when a unit of cats are bearing down they men on the ground think otherwise... I know I would!
What it does mean is that there is a chance of standing, whereas previously they would always run if the odds were against them.
What it does mean is that I haven't anywhere specified that AI evade setting must pass a CMT in order to be obeyed. Have you? If this is the case, I think we should know about it.
Because, in the example above, I've lost the LC field commander to a rear attack exactly because the LF decided it is not the case to obey a No Evade order.
Hmm.. it seems that the online help actually was updated, at least regarding the new AI evasion settings, and the fact that a charged LC or LF in the open must pass a CMT when charged.
Yet, in the example above the LF was not charged, the charged unit was the nearby LC one, and the LF had to pass a CMT to not evade only because ended in contact, even if it was not the charged unit.
Haven't checked exactly what the on line help says. The intended behavior is that skirmishers (LF and LH) must pass a CMT in order to stand against charging non-skirmishers, which is consistent with the TT rules. In the PC game, this seems to include having the non-skirmishers move adjacent to the BG whether or not it is the target of the charge. You had a better than 50% chance to stand (6 or higher on 2 D6 with the general in command range, so you were a bit unlucky that they didn't stand with about a 72% chance of standing.) This is not a bug.
yes, and that makes even less sense: if I would be a skirmisher, I'd know my best chance to run would be while in rough terrain, as no one can match my speed in that kind of terrain, while in open, cavalry would make short work of me, so i'd rather stay and take the chances.
