Placing Field Fortifications

Post by peteratjet »

This came up tonight in a practice game for the Oxford FoGR tournament .

I was ( I thought) following the rules exactly, placing a single field fortification marker, marked with number of FF's it represented, then putting the rest down after the troops were all deployed, with two internal 90-degree angles to form an open box. (actually, a paper template, as my FF pieces are hidden very securely, somewhere)

It was suggested that this would be disasallowed if I tried it in competition, which surprised me. Am I missing something.

FF haven't popped up in any of our games, but from reading p181-182, I don't see what was wrong with what you did. Maybe someone more enlightened could enlighten us. What exactly was the objection??

I have never seen done what you did but my understanding is that what you did is exactly what is intended for, say, a 2 base BG of artillery. RAW specifically allow this. B has the page references spot on.

I have already said sorry for querying the deployment of the FF.

I am certain he was more put out by simple paper cut outs when he knows there are nice looking actually models hiding about somewhere.
