The dastardly French knights have moved into position threatening my LF and by consequence the 2 bgs of 8 MF behind. I now get to shoot so claim 3 dice for the LF bow. to this I add 1 dice for the right most 2 bases of the MF that are Bow*, 1 dice for the left most of the same for 5 dice.
I then spotted that the second from left pair of bow*, as identified by the brass rod, might be eligable to shoot.
They are clearly in arc, I can trace a line from 2 of my corners to one of the knight's and drawing a line extending from the front of the left corner of base they are in range. Reading RAW these points are all considered in isolation, a corner must be visible, a BG must be in range and a BG must be in arc. But my opponent, not unreasonably, felt that the point of target that I was claiming as not being crossed (and thus giving line of sight) should be in range itself. It's not marked but the point I claimed was just out of range, and it's not clear due to the rods knocking figures, but we both agreed the 'point' of target was out of range.
Wording says only the BG has to be in range, not the point of target. A quick discussion with the others from the game on the next table agreed that the extra dice could be claimed and my opponent accepted this but with good reason felt it was not quite right.
Was the dice claimable? If so what would it register on the Cheese-o-meter?

PS, for those that care about such things, the Knights eventually charged after no shooting losses, the LF evaded, the MF dropped in Impact but held and destroyed an enemy base in melee. As I was disrupted the knights stuck. 2nd round of melee I lost a base from 1 bg but held on the CT then rallied. Rally is after break off so he's still still. 3rd round I win the melee, he loses a base but has a pop at my general on 12, and kills it. I too have a pop at his on a 12... and kill it. He drops due to general loss and bounces. Strike a win for the Tupi!!
