Variable Set up

For me, the ideal would be to have variable setups, either left up for the player to position his units for the first turn, or perhaps with optional plans for the Germans, Austrians, Russians, and French. And it would be great when playing the AI if the AI randomly picked an option. That would greatly enhance replayability. For example, if you were playing as the Central Powers and you had no idea when you deployed if the Russians would concentrate against East Prussia, Galicia, or launch offensives, as they did historically, along both fronts.
