At Wits End

Somebody please help me. I have now spent the last 13 days trying to win the Battle of Lussac. I have fought it at all difficulty levels and with all types of army i.e. mainly archers, mainly mounted knights, dismounted knights, spearmen, axemen, swordsmen. You name it - I've tried it. I am at the point of turning my back on this game, so infuriated have I become with it. What is the best strategy because hard as I try, I cannot come up with it myself.

Maybe post some details of the scenario and your battle plan so they can comment on it.

If I remember correctly when playing this level through testing I used to send the majority of my most powerful units to the entrance on the far left of the map while leaving my weaker units in their starting positions in order to draw in the units from the far right side of the map as a distraction so that my more powerful units used the mud bridge at the far left side of the map, work their way round to the victory point, demoralise the majority of units and then throw everything you’ve got at the enemy while they are demoralised.

At the start of the battle direct your archers to get to the right side of the far left entrance and tell your archers to concentrate their fire on the French Arbalester and then on the light swordsman that are guarding that far left entrance point. Once these units have been routed you then tell your archers to concentrate their fire on the Men at Arms unit that’s standing behind the French Arbalester and the light swordsman unit. At this point you attack the Heavy Spearmen unit (preferably with infantry units that are good with swords) and then once the Heavy Spearmen has been taken out by a bombardment of your sword infantry units you then use them to finish off the Men at Arms unit that you archers were concentrating their fire on. Once these 4 units that were protecting the far left entrance have been routed it's then a matter of reaching the victory point by defeating the wagon with anything except your cavalry unit (I found that cavalry unit had no affect on wagon when I was playing the game). Once you reach this victory point the majority of enemy units will become demoralised and at this point you send everyone on the attack; routing as many enemy units as you can while their demoralised. Once the majority of units have been routed it's then a matter of dealing with the small amount of enemies that might be left. I hope this helps.

I played through the campaign on PC way back, so maybe I could try to remember whether your particular battle gave me problems too. If only I'd know which battle is that exactly I don't think you can load separate battles in PC at least. What is the map like? Any particular victory conditions?

Some quick late flashbacks back in the brain from bassani2009's description. Is Battle of Lussac the one fought in the winter wonderland? A bridge in far left and a ford and bridge in the right?

_augustus_ //I seem to recall that particular battle had some deployment squares on the opposite side of the river in the woods behind the French guarding the left bridge. Placing couple of cavalry units there was very helpfull for me in addition to going in by the left bridge and just holding the right flank like bassani2009 wrote. Although it was one of the most difficult and interesting battles for me.

Thank you for the tip. I finally did it! Now, I am just stuck on Agincourt........aghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
