15mm Spanish army of the second half of the XVI century

This is my Spanish army of the second half of the XVI century. The figures are mostly Essex and Minifigs, with some converted figures as well (Minifigs torsos with Essex heads and vice-versa, plus some Miliput to add some details)
The paper flags are all home made and based on paintings or contemporary discriptions.

The Captain of the army. An inteligent and brave man, he doesn’t look the other way. In the backgound, the lancers.

The Spanish Tercios. Somewhere over there there must be a Cervantes or a Lope de Vega…

This is a freshly painted Landsknecht regiment, with companies from all over Germany. Once again, Essex, Minifigs and some other brands were mixed freely.

Some Portuguese volunteers joined the party and made a Terço of their own.

And that’s it. In a couple of weeks I’ll have some more cavalry to show.

Inspiring! I've got this pile of 15mm Spanish lead to get started on myself. Can't wait to see a full size Tercio on the table.

I've a PoW army for the same period to rebase and fill out but mine are not as nicely painted as yours, pippohispano.

Much obliged, but I'm sure you can paint it just like I do. I have a pair of hand and a pair of eyes just like any ordinary guy

I use acrylics and a paper tissue to dry out the excess of wather, a set of fine brushes (Windsor and Newton series 7 are the best) and good light. And that's all there is to know.

Well, I have these rather imposing Landesknecht fellows frowning down on me letting me know I have to update my Italian Wars army first.....

With Landesknechts that's impossible, but with more "standard" European figures I use paper flags which I put or remove at will, thus being able to make several armies in a couple of minutes.

Stecal, Gbrios, Timmy: uncap your paints, pick up yours brushes and go for it! Oh, and post the results in the Forum! I'm sure we'll all appreciate the results.
