Attacking colors...

I think this needs to be re-worked somehow.. all the text turn orange and you have to squint at the screen to read.

I don't know the model # ATI 800 series or something like that, and I'm not on a CRT or laptop this is an LCD monitor. The game runs fine, I doubt I am having graphics issues, because it seems the last patch did this on purpose to try and make it easier for us to tell if we are getting a penalty, but it actually makes things hard to read.

I asked because if Pip has a nvidia card with a different monitor than you have, it may look fine.

I have a ATI 4200 and CRT and don't notice anything orange.

I see the different colours and they are fine on my setup. Maybe there is an adjustment or other resolution size that you could try.

I'm not sure it works and we're looking at other ways to get the info across. It is reacting to teh feedback people gave us about luck - we're trying to make it as in your face as possible when you're likely to hit.

We also now show if you are recieving penalties for moving/fast target/small target etc on the tooltip.

Did anyone notice this and find it useful?

For me the colours and extra information don't add anything I still just look at the 3 numbers - they have already taken into account the modifiers.

Primarily it's the % Chance to Kill I look at. For information the other 2 (Chance to Hit and Chance to Penetrate) are interesting; have I got such a poor Chance to Kill because I'm not able to hit him or because his armour is too good. However the % Chance to Kill number alone gives me enough info to help make the decision on whether I should press the fire button or not.

Of course there are other factors that I have to take into account, e.g. is it more dangerous to sit still knowing I won't get any opfire but possibly be seen as the biggest threat next turn or should I risk opfire to get out the way or should I just press the button and cross my fingers? Now if we could get indications on those unknowns ... now that would be worth having

I noticed it.. I would say just get rid of the colors because bottom line people are just scanning to % to kill and it makes it harder to read.

If we wanted to get away from percentages it could just say be chance to hit = low, medium, high... but i think % are more interesting.

Noticed and find useful! Don't find any of the coloured text difficult to read on my laptop.

I like seeing the info about the penalties which are reducing my chance to hit - encouraged me use the 'Hunt' move much more often than I used to and I seem to be winning more games as a result now :)

I spent just about all of Saturday and Sunday playtesting battles and I have to say I like the colour coded text and explanations.

I like the new colors as well as the explanation what might cause a slower chance. Maybe for those who don't like a user line would be nice?

PirateJock? I gather your  means you're joking right?

Now, seriously ... I think they should build another Tutorial Scenario that goes over what we are looking at, ie kill chance, move penalty etc.
Then, there will be no doubt (in a noob's mind) how things work.

Hmm, maybe we need a "noob setting" .... you know, a toggle that turns the tooltips ON/OFF ...
Perhaps a four-way toggle ... OFF / NOOB / BASIC / ADVANCED.
