I see that the highland companies have been changed to musket*. I know all other highlanders have this but in the case of the highland companies they all would have had a musket while in the clan units only those in the front ranks at best would have been so equiped hence my proposals for full musket status. They are pretty in few in numbers anyway so would propose we change back.

However, John, bear in mind that the French are similarly rated despite being fully supplied with muskets.
If we decide to keep them as Musket* (which seems reasonable on the same basis as the French), then the blurb needs a tweak.
"Regular units were often accompanied by small bodies of native Highlanders with traditional weaponry. Although these were better supplied with muskets than clan formations, we still rate them as Musket*, Impact Foot because we assume that they retained the usual Highland enthusiasm for close combat. "
Or somesuch.

The Osprey on the army (which is OK I think) says the bayonet was recorded in use in Tangiers in 1662/3
