Late TYW German Armored Pike

Post by pcelella »

I just got the rules and list book yesterday - yeah! I haven't had too much time to absorb everything, but I did go to the lists to check out the Late TYW German army list since I was planning on building an Imperialist army in this period. The troop notes say that no more than 1/2 of infantry units can have armored pike for a Catholic army, but then the starter army shows all the pike and shot units with armored pike. Is one or the other incorrect, or is this a case of the starter list not having to meet the requirements that a full army needs to?

Thanks

Thanks for reminding me of this issue, which I had noticed myself and wondered if it might cause problems.

A clarification is probably required for the restriction re Catholic armies, which (unless I am mistaken) is intended only to apply from 1635. I will add that to the errata after checking with the list author.

As you say, the Starter Armies don't have to meet the requirements of the main list, but, (even without the clarification), isn't the starter army a legal pre-1635 (Protestant) army?
