multiplayer cheat

Hi all,

Have just started two games, road to caen and clash of armour, against someone called CCCBSS and not sure how he or she has edited the game however they have added a huge amount of extra units to they force pool.For example on the rooad to caen they have a least 5 25 pounders and added crocidile tanks which i know for sure are not in the original force pool. Also on clash of armour they added numerous tank tank guns and other units.

Very strange and wonder if anyone can shine some light on the situation.

WTF! I thought we should be spared from things like this. Slitherine must see this and do a thorough check.

Where is the fun in this . Can't be satisfying if you win and gut busting if you lose. A fantastic achievment if you win against the cheat and good lerning experience if you lose.

The cheat realy is cheating them selfs. You have to feel sorry for the person who cant bare to lose.

This kind of manipulation of the system is just sad, if you want to play with varying forces do so on your own but don't throw it in to a MP game so you can win! I hope the person who did this packs it in and plays within the spirit of good gamesmanship - by the rules so to speak.

A smart cheat might have just given himself a few extra Sherman 76s and maybe some infantry... Thats like a German cheat giving himself 10 KingTigers and expecting no one to notice

We will look into it. Thinking about it though, I think I can see what the issue might be. Hmmm. We will put in some checking as a matter of urgency for the next update.

If you are cheating - shame on you. I will be checking the games and if there is evidence of cheating then we will take a look at what actions we can take.

The OP is so good I bet he still could have one a righteous victory. I am so naive, I never think about being cheated.

I have lauded this game for it's security.

Frankly, this COULD kill the game and Slitherine is right to take it dead serious. I am plenty willing to suggest a person caught cheating should have there serial BANNED and who gives a damn if it renders their purchase all but worthless to them.

I watched Strategic Command go from a must play game to a dead in the water dud all because of cheating.
The moment the cheating scandal broke, the online playing all but screeched to a loud halt.

We are investigating this and have contacted cccbss. We take cheating extremely seriously.

cccbss will be denied access to the MP server until this matter si resolved. Sorry for any inconvenience caused to players in games against this user.

We will also be adding some new counter measures to prevent any map modification in future. There is a loophole we missed when adding the security measures. We're also doing a review to see if there are other potential ways that cheating could occur.

Looks like an honest mistake to me - and highlights a loophole. As mentioned if trying to do it maliciously wouldn't raise suspicion by going over the top on changes.

Well slitherine are going to close the loop hole so it will not matter.

Maybe someone knows how to tell CCCBSS to make the new multiplayer maps he was trying to make?

We are all prone to assume cheating, when some time cock up is the cause

They should investigate the issue, and probably ban this guy from the forums as well until it gets clear what happened exactly. If his reasons are truth though, in any case, i wonder why he kept playing the scenarios in the first place when he noticed the mistake (and surely he did)

As a disclaimer to him, i have a game going and haven´t noticed any extra unit. I am being severely beaten by some very lucky first shots (and some tactic finnesse on his part, i must say) that now make me wonder if these tweaking can also go as far as tweaking the stats for one side as well. But of course, everything looks suspicious now, and i don´t want to "feed the troll" anymore.

I am making first move on that one though so the scenario file loaded should come from my side. Or maybe i am hitting one of those Hot/Cold strokes you all are so worried about. Or maybe i am having just some plain, simple bad luck. Who knows.

Because I am not sure other host game can be change! Until twice. So when I confirm this thing, I am not use any more.

we have temporarily locked you out of multiplayer while the matter in under investigation. We have to take cheating very seriously as it could kill off the multiplayer community. If we find after our investigation it was an honest mistake we will reinstate your multiplayer access. Please bear with us while we try to resolve this.

I have responded to your mail and would prefer to keep this via private messages. There are reasons why this looks like suspicious activity which is why we are investigating.

Please do not comment about this on the forum while it is under investigation.
