Soldiers per base
i was wondering, would it be allowed to have one 28mm warrior per base? or would i have to have 3-4 like the Field of glory manual said?

All the tourney's i have been at for the past two years... Which is only a couple a year... They are by the rules for the most part... Sometimes instead of 4 per base for HF they have 3... But other than that.. It is per the rules. The units would not look much like units one man per stand.
I have been very slowly working on a 25mm army... It looks quite nice having all those figs in a unit.
Po-tae-toes! Mash 'em up and put 'em in a stew!
Try a smaller scale if you can, they turn out a lot cheaper. What I've done in the past for poor quality troops such as poor skirmishers such as javelinmen is to use only one figure and fill the rest of the base with scenery (boulders, bushes). If you do that with a maximum of half the bases in a BG it looks OK and most people never notice as long as they are skirmishers. With heavier troops it doesn't really work except for the odd base.Sirstroud wrote:oh, my soldiers are medium foot. i'm only 15, so i cant really go out buying heaps of figures
A French player once fielded an army representing an Amazonian tribe (Tupi) and instead of the mandatory three figures per base only used one and occasionally two and covered the rest of the base with bushes and trees to represent the jungle. It looked great.

It depends on who you are playing against. I have played 6mm figs v's 15mm. Some would find it sacrilege. Most don't care. So ask your opponents. Most people are very accommodating, providing they can tell the difference between troop types.
1 for skirmishers and 2 for battle troops sounds easy to tell apart
As you get more figures put more on the bases.

just remember to plan ahead for it. So with your MF and HF put the first 2 figures at the ends of the base. ( 3 or 4 to a base is good for these so room for one more) With your Skirmishers put the first figure to one side, randomly. The when you get more the second can also go in a 'random' position on the other side. A lot more irregular skirmish style look. Colin Betts would be a good amn to ask for the mounted, and these are far more expaensive than foot. I'll get him to post. If he's not busy running down trainspotters.

Welcome to the forum. It sounds like your limitation are purely based on current finances. I don't think anyone is going to be upset at all given that. For skirmishers a friend of mine uses one figure per stand because he thinks it looks better. They look fine. He played in a tournament with them recently and no one thought anything of it.Sirstroud wrote:good idea, il just glue more on as i buy them
I think the only issue that you need to be up front about is what the various troop types are. If there are possible ambiguities in your list (I don't know the list) you should make them clear before the game starts to whoever you are playing against.
Success to you as you build up your army.
