Can't Access Multiplayer

Post by basem2502 »

I'm getting an error message (you need the latest version to access multiplayer) whenever I try to go online. I have 1.3.7 and the application doesn't detect any new version when I launch.

It's just gone up to 1.3.8 - have you tried closing down the game and restarted to see if it picks up the update?

I did that several times but the launcher just doesn't pick up the new version. Still stuck at 1.3.7 :(

Never seen that before. Is it possible your machine is caching the files (it's told not to, but you never know). I would suggest a reboot might be a good starting point. And try clearing your IE cache (the temporary internet files) if that doesn't help.

Do you see the launcher information when you start up?

Cheers

Neither restart nor clearing IE cache worked. It's still not upgrading although launcher seems to be working fine. I took a screen shot of the launcher but not sure how to post pictures here.

Any other suggestions I can try?

What's odd is that all of the previous upgrades worked fine and nothing has changed as far as I know.

I have the game installed on a second laptop which I havent used in a week or so. Tried there and got the same problem. Launcher works fine and starts the game at 1.3.7 but doesn't detect the new version. Hence, I'm locked out of my multiplayer games :(

I just updated the launcher info to link to the 1.3.8/9 info. When you launch the game, do you see the new information on the launcher?

Cheers

When I run the launcher, I get a 'Checking of Updates' for a couple of seconds and then it shows the link to "Update 1.3.7 Details!" along with screen resolutions, OK/Cancel/Register buttons. No mention of 1.3.8

I'm going to try reinstalling the to see if that works.

It sounds like some kind of bizarre local caching by your ISP or perhaps your machine. Any kind of 'internet accelerator' software installed? (Just trying to think of anything that could cause the behaviour).

I'm not sure how to work around it though. I'll put together a zip in case you can't find a solution.

Cheers

I think issue is resolved now.

It recognized 1.3.9 after reinstalling but it also worked on the other laptop without reinstalling. I think it's an issue of caching from the ISP and not machine specific. Very strange indeed.

I got an error message while downloading and I'm retrying again. Should work now.

Thanks for your help, Pip.
