Dismounting knights in Storm Of Arrows?

Hi, hope somebody can advise about this... I can't work out how to select the option to dismount troops (knights mainly) who can fight on foot or on horseback. When I move the cursor over the 'S' during army selection it appears that these troops can be dismounted, but as soon as I move the cursor away (eg to select the number of units) they revert to fighting on horseback. It doesn't seem possible to click on the 'S' to toggle between mounted/dismounted. I'm probably missing something very obvious, but if anyone out there can point out what it is I'd be very grateful (I thought maybe they dismount on deployment, but I can't work out how that happens either!).

In the DAG you simply purchase those troops.

When you go to deploy your army for battle, you can 'right-click' on those troops and choose alternate deployment.

You can then right-click again to take them back to mounted if you change your mind.

But once deployment is done, you can't change them during the game.
