Stockport Pick'n'Mix December 11th/12th
The event will take the form of two linked one day tournaments, each being made up of three games a day. Each day will be a separate tournament, there will be prizes for best performance each day and for best over the weekend. Players will not play the same player twice in the weekend.
Periods:
FoG 15mm 650 points on a 5 by 3 table - open tournament but if a player wishes to use different armies on each day that is fine as long as both lists are submitted and it is clear which is day 1 and which is day 2. All normal rules apply with the following changes: each player gets 2-3 terrain choices, compulsary terrain cannot be discarded because it will not fit (it must still be on one or other half of the table), ambushes cannot be deployed where they would be visible to other ambushes.
FoG 25mm (Sunday only) 600 points open using starter armies only. Rather than use a smaller table 40mm MU will be used on a 6 by 4 table which will probably have much the same effect as a smaller table does for 15mm. Deployment distances and terrain use 1" MU
FoG:R 15mm 650 points on a 5 by 3 table - Wars of Religion
DBMM 15mm DBMM 15mm DBMM 200 as per the DBMM version 2.0 rules. Theme 'The Age of Arthur' any DBMM list between 350AD to 650AD. Table size 4' x 3'.
If a player wishes to use different armies on each day that is fine as long as both lists are submitted and it is clear which is day 1 and which is day 2.
If there is demand for other rules to be run there is plenty of space at the venue so let me know and I will see what can be done
Prizes:
There will be at least one door prize of a Magister Militum FoG starter army and it is possible that there will be a similar door prize offered for each day. In addition there will be a prize (probably a Warlord games 28mm army) for the best Saturday score across the periods and a similar prize for the best Sunday score. The overall Pick 'n' Mix champion will receive a Magister Militum FoG starter army. Period winners each day will receive a trophy and there will be trophies for first second and third overall for the weekend.

it should work out similar to 650 points of 15mm on a 5 by 3 (I hope)
If it is 600 points how about saying it is starter armies?

Could do. I would not have an issue with that.nikgaukroger wrote:hammy wrote:600 on a 6 by 4 using 40mm MUkevinj wrote:Am I reading it correctly - FOG 25 would be 600 points on a 5x3 table using 40mm MUs?

Do any of the prospective 25mm players have any thoughts on this?

The only rules change is that compulsary terrain cannot be discarded because it won't fit (a maximum sized terrain feature will not fit more than 8 MU from the edge) and each player get 2-3 terrain choices, not 2-4.Polkovnik wrote:What are the rules for the 15mm FOG games ?
It's 650 pts on 5' by 3', so is it normal deployment distances ? What about terrain choices ? Any other special rules ? What scoring system is it ?
Deployment distances are standard so light horse can deploy in charge reach.
Scoring is standard FoG 25 point scoring.
Games are 2 1/2 hours long

No, the rule is that they still go on one half of the table or the other, they can however go within 8 MU of the edge if they would otherwise have to be discarded. Essentially they go as far on as you can fit them.Robert241167 wrote:Hi Hammy
Regarding large compulsory pieces.....................is the rule if it is 8 MU's from edges so that it may end up with part on the opponents side of the table before dicing to move it?
Cheers

Ahh, that might not quite work thenpeteratjet wrote:.... with 40mm Movement Units on a 6x4 table for the 25mm scale figures, light troops can deploy in contact

Deployment will have to be 15" and 10" as per the rules then movement and ranges can be in 40mm MU.

I now have one player who would like to play FoG:25 on the Sunday and another who is up for FoG:R on the Saturday if he can make it.
Does anyone have any issue with me fixing FoG:R as Saturday for definite with Sunday as well if there are enough players and then FoG:25 as Sunday for definite with Saturday as well if there are enough players?

Having double checked the numbers they would be able to deploy 1.92 cm apartpeteratjet wrote:Another evil plan bites the dust.hammy wrote:Ahh, that might not quite work thenpeteratjet wrote:.... with 40mm Movement Units on a 6x4 table for the 25mm scale figures, light troops can deploy in contact![]()

Deploying 10" in means that it is just a fraction over 8 heavy foot moves (using 40mm MU) to the opponents base line. For the 15mm games deploying at 102 it would be 8.66 heavy foot moves to the baseline so that seems OK.
I assume you realise that this can potentially give a much higher proportion of terrain on the table than the normal setup rules on a 6' by 4' table ?hammy wrote:The only rules change is that compulsary terrain cannot be discarded because it won't fit (a maximum sized terrain feature will not fit more than 8 MU from the edge) and each player get 2-3 terrain choices, not 2-4.Polkovnik wrote:What are the rules for the 15mm FOG games ?

Assuming one player wants to maximise terrain, this reduces the amount of terrain he can choose by 1/6 or 17%. However, the table area is reduced by 38%.
If the terrain choices were to be reduced in proportion to table size it would be better to give each player 1-2 terrain choices, not 2-3 (or alternatively not allow compulsory pieces to be large, which might be a better option).
Also on this sized table, a large complusory piece (which cannot be removed) is pretty much guaranteed to be in a useful and significant place (as even it is placed against a long edge it can be 2" from the centre line), wheareas on a normal sized table a large piece against a rear edge will be at least 8" from the centre of the table.

Well as the format has been run a few times now - all very successfully I may add - I think we can assume he is
