Stunning news from BritCon

Post by CLAVDIVS »

This is off Warhammer Forum site,

After a long and hard weekend of gaming (six 2000 point games), Josh Roberts managed the one-two (Toy Soldier and BritCon) so well done to him and Chris Green for a close-ish second. The last three missions were adaptations from the Battle Missions book designed to take players out of their tournament comfort zone, for example, one of them was a variation of the slave raid scenario with deployment being anywhere in your own half of the table but at least 9" away from your own edge, not a good start for guard gunlines.

Anyway, onto the news. At the end of the announcements and results ceremony, J.D. McNeil, chief organiser and owner of the franchise, for want of a better phrase, announced he was stepping down after next years event. As a thank you to all who have attended over the past 13 years and made the weekend one of the premier events on the wargaming calendar, next years event is going to be totally FREE to entrants. Everything, entry to the competition, accomodation, admin etc, all free. So when the entry dates are announced, make sure you get in there as who knows what will happen in years to come. Having attended for the past four years I can confidently say that BritCon is one of, if not the, best event out there. It exposes gamers to many different systems and models and there are numerous trade stands and demo games. If you can, try and attend (and no, I'm not on the payroll).
